FEUERSTEIN'S INSTRUMENTAL ENRICHMENT - from The International Center for the Enhancement of Learning Potential, Israel.

The Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) is a tool for the enhancement of learning potential and cognitive functioning in children and adults. For individual with special needs, FIE is used ,as a remediation program while for higher functioning learners FIE is a tool of cognitive enrichment .FIE is aimed at enhancing the individual's cognitive functions necessary for academic learning and achievement. It seeks to correct deficiencies in fundamental thinking skills, provide students with the concepts, skills, strategies, operations and techniques necessary and fosters reflective reasoning to function as independent learners, increases their motivation and develops student's meta-cognition.

FIE turns them from passive recipients of information into active learners. The goals are also "bridged" into areas of the individual's life that further extend the concepts learned and make them experientially meaningful. Simply said, FIE helps students learn how to learn.

FIE uses a series of worksheets to provide the child with the right tools (thinking ,relating, recalling, reproducing, etc.) to correct their deficient functions. FIE has been designed for use in a one-to one therapeutic intervention and/or in smaller groups.

Program details: It is a 6 month program with 45 minute sessions twice a week
